Reasons for Being Healthy explores why people have decided to live a healthy life in efforts to motivate others to regain their own health, happiness, and overall well-being. With the goal of making healthier choices and inspiring others to do the same, author, filmmaker and former journalist Kamala Appel decided to set out and interview everyday Americans who are committed to living a healthy lifestyle.

The subjects include experts and weekend warriors. Their areas of enthusiasm include the three keys to health: diet + exercise + mindset.

Appel explains, “After my mother’s stroke, I decided to become a volunteer running coach for the American Heart Association. As a coach, it dawned on me how important it is to share your knowledge, stories, challenges, and most importantly your reasons for why you do something with a whole-hearted commitment. So I thought I would share my reasons for being healthy and ask some others who were passionate about living a healthy lifestyle to do the same. It is my hope that if we pool our resources, we can work towards achieving happier and healthier lives.”

 

The interview subjects were asked the following:

• What have you learned about health that surprised you?
• What challenges do you still face and what do you do to stay motivated?
• What are your top 3 tips that would you share to help others live a healthy life with ease?
